ATUCDA gathers the sons and daughters of Acha-Tugi — at home and abroad — to keep our history, hold our culture, and finance the works the village needs.
Acha-Tugi sits on the high grassland of Cameroon’s North West Region — a place of red earth, raffia and rolling ridges, where the compound, the palace and the market have organised village life for as long as the elders can account for.
The oral record traces our forebears’ migration into the Grassfields and the founding of the settlement on the ridge, where water, farmland and a defensible view came together. What has held since is not only the land, but a habit: whatever the village needed, the village put together — one contribution at a time.
In 19XX that habit was given a constitution. Traders and teachers from Acha-Tugi living in Bamenda formalised their meeting into the Acha-Tugi Cultural and Development Association, so that money, memory and effort could be pooled beyond one town, one generation, one lifetime.
Acha and Tugi — two quarters, one village. The figure running down the edge of every page is drawn from that: two forms, joined and held.
