Scattered across the world, and still one village.
The Acha-Tugi Cultural and Development Association is the union of all sons and daughters of Acha-Tugi, wherever they live. We exist to preserve what the village knows, and to finance what the village needs.
Our mandate
- Record and safeguard the history, language and customs of Acha-Tugi.
- Raise and account for funds for development works in the village.
- Maintain the register of members and their annual contributions.
- Stand together for members in bereavement, celebration and need.
Settlement on the ridge
The migration into the Grassfields and the founding of Acha-Tugi, held in the oral account of the elders and the palace.
First written mention
A colonial district assessment lists the village, its quarters and a population estimate — the earliest document in our archive.
Boundary settlement
The land agreement with the neighbouring village, still the reference in boundary matters today.
ATUCDA is constituted
The meeting of Acha-Tugi people in Bamenda becomes a registered association, with a constitution, an executive, annual dues and a convention.
The village abroad
Sons and daughters of Acha-Tugi settle beyond Cameroon, and the association follows them — so that leaving the village does not mean leaving it behind.
The school block is handed over
Four classrooms at Achang, financed from the dues of members at home and abroad — our largest completed work.
Membership is open to every son and daughter of Acha-Tugi aged 18 and above, and to spouses. Registration is done by the Registrar.
